Topic :
5Hz or 10Hz GPS module?
Hi,
I had a personal message with the following query. Here it is, and the answer.
Quote:
Locosys provide LS20030(without battery for Sat. memory),20031(with battery for Sat. memory) with 5 firmware options:
1Hz, 9600bps, NMEA output: GGA, GLL, GSV, GSA, RMC, VTG.
5Hz, 38400bps, NMEA output: GGA, RMC, VTG.
5Hz, 57600bps, NMEA output: GGA, GLL, GSV, GSA, RMC, VTG
10Hz, 38400bps, NMEA output: GGA, RMC, VTG, GSA
10Hz, 115200bps, NMEA output: GGA, GLL, GSV, GSA, RMC, VTG.
I think your project use 5Hz, 38400bps.
I've seen others use 10Hz, 38400bps in their project.
I don't know if I can use 10Hz, 38400bps option on your Dakar PCB with DAKAR_OSD_27b.HEX. Or should I use 5Hz, 38400bps and DAKAR_OSD_20C_LS20033.HEX?
Is there a significant difference between 5Hz & 10Hz option?
Could you please advise?
Thanks and best rgds.
Hi,
I don't think Cristobal's software supports 10Hz yet. Certainly when I constructed my Lynx the 5Hz GPS module was the fastest available. I found a post on the Spanish board from Cristobal as follows:
Quote:
This gps can operate from 1 hz to 10hz configured by software. Currently is configured by the actual firmware of DakarOSD 2.7b to work with a refresh rate of 5hz , This is more than sufficient refresh rate to fly FPV and to obtain gps information in real time in our flights. Although the actual Hardware is very overcharged with all the process, i'm not discarding the possibility of study in the future another refresh rates if it is found that are interesting.
So basically, you just plug in the GPS and the software will automatically configure it to 5Hz.
